Georgian Optical Illusion Mourning Ring Size:8.5 but presumably not by theDATE: Georgian, c. 1820 A fine Georgian mourning ring with two fine black enamel seams around a central "optical illusion" band. The centre band is convex in shape, and has been detailed with straight grooves at a 45 degree angle. When the band is rotated, some of the grooves appear to contort into S shapes a clever trick of the eye. It's modelled in 15 karat gold, and dates from the early 19th Century.
