Antarctic 1922 Shackleton Rowett Expedition on GB Great Britain 1/- KGV block of stamps overprinted Gough Island Miscellaneous Both types of these elusiveThese stamps were issued by Ernest Shackleton as a fundraiser for this expedition. There were a number of values and over prints but for some reason they are not listed by SG. They are extremely scarce and this block is the first one I have had in stock in 42 years. As always he was desperately short of money and had to cut corners, utilising a very poor ship which was all he could afford. The great man subsequently died on this trip at South Georgia
