It was built in 1963 as one of the first Alaska marine highway ships connecting together the Island and coastal communities of Alaska and providing passenger and vehicle links to the lower 48 states through the Ferry terminal in Bellingham

The crews work hard skating the fish loose from the gill net as fast as they can so that the net can be set again
